Tommaso Pobega has penned an emotional farewell letter to AC Milan, his team-mates and the fans with his move to Bologna imminent.

When it comes to feeling a sense of honour to wear the Milan shirt, few feel it like Pobega. As a boyhood fan of the club he graduated through the youth academy and eventually made his first-team debut, before recent loan spells to the likes of Spezia, Torino and Bologna.

Pobega arrived in Bologna yesterday to begin a medical and complete a move back there that will become a permanent switch, with an official announcement imminent. He has said goodbye and thanks to the Rossoneri in an emotional letter posted on his Instagram profile.

“I’m having a hard time finding the right words… On July 3, 2013, I took my first step into Milanello, a step that marked my entry into the special family that is AC Milan. I moved here as a child full of dreams and hopes, but also many fears and uncertainties.

“Here, I had the privilege of meeting countless people with a depth of humanity that is difficult to find in other environments. Each of them taught me and left me something that I will always carry with me.

“I can only thank each and every one of them: all the tutors at the boarding school, all the coaches, all the athletic trainers, all the team managers, all the doctors, all the physiotherapists, all the people who work at Vismara and Milanello, all the people who work behind the scenes at Casa Milan, all the management, and all the fans who allowed me to live this dream.

“Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank all my teammates with whom I had the honour of training and battling on the pitch. Each of you has left a profound impression on me, and I hope I have done the same with you.

“Today I say goodbye to this family as a man, knowing I’ve always given my best and, despite the difficulties, proud to have achieved goals I never would have dreamed of as a child. THANK YOU, MILAN!”
