Liverpool began the season as the Premier League champion, but an awful run of results across September, October, and November plunged Arne Slot's team into crisis

The Premier League supercomputer is predicting Liverpool to finish the season in fifth position, which could see the team drop into the Europa League.

Last season, a top-five finish in the Premier League was enough to secure a spot in the Champions League – with Newcastle the beneficiary – due to the good performance of English teams in European competitions during the 2024-25 season.

With five English teams currently occupying spots inside the Champions League's top 12, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest well-positioned in the Europa League, and Crystal Palace also competing in the Conference League, there is a good chance of that happening again.

If that does prove to be the case, then a fifth-placed finish will not be the worst outcome for Liverpool, considering where the team found itself just a few weeks ago.

But at the beginning of the season, Reds supporters were dreaming of a glorious title defense off the back of an exciting squad overhaul, which saw the club break its transfer record twice.

The supercomputer, provided by CasinoHawks, predicts that Arsenal will end its lengthy wait for a league title, finishing on 87 points – five ahead of Manchester City in second, while Aston Villa and Chelsea round out the top four on 76 and 63 points respectively.

Unsurprisingly, Wolves are tipped to finish at the bottom of the table, going down on a record-low 10 points, and they are joined in being relegated by Burnley and West Ham.

Arne Slot's men host basement side Wolves on December 27, looking for a third successive Premier League win, which would also extend the team's unbeaten run in all competitions to seven games.

Liverpool's recent run of form has eased the pressure on Liverpool head coach Slot, who had presided over a shocking run of nine defeats in 12 games earlier in the campaign.

Despite the team's turnaround, Slot is not expecting an easy game against Wolves – even with the Molineux club strongly threatening to go down as the worst Premier League team of all time.

"Their results haven't been what they were hoping for but they're coming closer and closer to results," Slot said during a press conference on Tuesday.

"They were very close to a result at Arsenal.

"As always, there is a challenge in every Premier League game, and that's the same for this one."

Wolves have picked up just two points from 17 games all season, and have not avoided defeat in any competition in almost three months.
