Pulisic admits he is not 100% yet after another decisive derby goal: “I can improve more”

Christian Pulisic has been Mr. Reliable for AC Milan for a while now, and his latest goal was further proof of that. In the right place, at the right time, to grab another derby goal.

There can be a lot said about Milan and their star man at the moment. Ultimately, there is not one player that can be given that title. Even before the penalty save, it was going to be a close call between Mike Maignan and Pulisic.

This team has grown together and matured a lot since Massimiliano Allegri arrived, and there is still a long way to go with improvements seen regularly in performances, on a personal and group level.

Pulisic’s admission

For Pulisic specifically, the American’s trajectory since joining from Chelsea has been ridiculous. His level of input and importance has risen drastically, and it is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

In fact, he admitted that he can improve further in the future after the game when speaking to CBS Golazo, via MilanPress.

“This goal means everything to me. Only the result was important; now we’re in a good position in the standings. I’m really happy to be back on the pitch after last month’s problems and to help the team.

“Honestly, I can improve even more. I don’t feel 100% physically after returning from injury, but this shows the resilience I have inside. I work really hard to get to moments like this; they’re important to me.

“It seems like my teammates struggled on the pitch, even when we were 0-0, and it showed defensively in the last 30 minutes, but I think we have a really great team spirit. No matter what happens, we go behind and come back, we go up top and defend.

“We know how to read the game during the game, and we come into the match with confidence. Maignan’s performance was one of the best I’ve ever seen, not just in terms of the penalty. In the first half, he made some great saves; he saved us several times, and it was fantastic .”

“We always want to be top of the table; when the games are over, we want to be ahead of everyone else. We take it game by game, and great performances against great teams mean a lot. Yes, this victory sends a message to the league, but we need to find consistency.”
