Christian Pulisic put the summer controversy behind him and got back to doing what he does best for the United States: producing goals.
In case you missed the drama of recent months, Pulisic was heavily criticised by some sections of the USMNT fan base for not participating in the Gold Cup, but he answered the call over the current break and picked up where he left off. Mauricio Pochettino also fuelled the fire with his comments.
The United States won 2-0 against Japan last night, thanks to goals from Zendejas and Balogun. Pulisic – who netted in Milan’s recent win over Lecce – set up the second goal with a lovely slipped through pass.
His entire performance that caught the eye, as ESPN also highlighted in their post-match ratings, giving him a 9 out of 10. They assess his performance as follows: “Roamed around, created his own opportunities with recoveries, dropped deep and then clinched the well-earned assist for Balogun’s goal.”
