AC Milan extended their winning run to three games with a dominant display against Udinese. Given the scoreline, there were many positives for Max Allegri’s side stats-wise.
While it was expected to be a very tough clash, especially since Udinese had started the season well, Milan put their foot down and secured all three points in a dominant fashion. Christian Pulisic was a key player for the Rossoneri, making sure the stats were as good as they could be.
A win in all categories
If we start with the overall stats, such as possession, shots on target and xG, it’s clear that Milan deserved to win the game. They did well to get three goals out of their chances based on the xG, which came in at 1.25, but that in itself showcased skill.
Furthermore, they won every single category except for yellow cards, which is one you obviously want to lose. It has been said by many already, but yesterday’s clash was more than just an Allegri-esque narrow win; it was a dominant one.
It should also be noted that Milan have registered three consecutive clean sheets in the league for the first time in three years.

Pulisic unstoppable
Captain America was back from start and he delivered immediately, scoring two goals and getting one assist. His work rate is incredibly commendable and that showed especially on the second goal, when he won back the ball to set up Youssouf Fofana.
Thanks to goal contributions last night, Pulisic became the first player in Serie A to score at least 25 goals and provide at least 15 assists in the last three seasons (25G, 17A). His importance is undeniable, in other words, and he seems to be unstoppable at this time.
Gimenez continues to struggle
While it was a good evening for more or less all of the Milan players, it was a tough one for Santiago Gimenez. He worked hard for the team once again and opened up space for his teammates, but he missed a big chance at the start of the game.

If we take a look at the ‘big chances missed’ stat, which Opta provides, Gimenez is clear at the top in Serie A with 7 big chances missed. Marcus Thuram is in second place with 3, which says everything you need to know about the Mexican’s rocky start.
Fofana off the mark
Allegri has previously stated that he wants Fofana and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to score 15 goals between them this season. The Englishman got off the mark away at Lecce, and the Frenchman followed with a nice goal last night.
The target is well within reach, as such, and it was especially important for Fofana to get going after a mixed start to the season. He made it clear after the game that the increased competition in midfield actually has helped him, pushing him to work even harder.
