The renewal of Mike Maignan is a huge weight on everyone currently, and the longer it continues, the more pressure falls on AC Milan.

Extending the Frenchman’s contract allows for greater flexibility moving forward, whilst retaining one of their most important leaders. However, if he is to leave, the Rossoneri must find an apt replacement, whilst also considering others.

Rumours in recent months have not given much reason to be hopeful, but things seem to be turning. In the last few weeks, optimism has been growing, and at Milanello, it is now ‘palpable’, as Quotidiano Sportivo (via MilanNews24) writes.
After the Supercoppa, the Diavolo will attempt to strike, and ‘close’ the situation altogether. Of course, this would be ideal in either situation. If he extends, fantastic. However, if a renewal cannot be achieved, they will then have six months to sort out the future.
They say there is no smoke without fire; now we’ll see if there has been a reason for the optimism.
