Rabiot discusses Allegri’s reaction, Scudetto favourites and potential lack of advantage: “It’s true”

After last night’s draw, AC Milan midfielder Adrien Rabiot spoke to the press about the game, and what it may mean for their season.

It is impossible to deny that last night’s result feels like a missed opportunity. However, Milan never really got going. The brutal truth is that they were the ones chasing for the majority of the game, and it almost slipped by them at the end.

Whilst not the end of their season, it now means that Inter have a three-point gap at the top of the Scudetto rankings. So, what was deemed a month to possibly take charge may now be a month to strengthen the top four credentials.

The title is certainly not out of reach, far from it. Nevertheless, Massimiliano Allegri’s focus on the Champions League return has probably been proven right.

Rabiot’s reaction

Speaking after the game to Sky, Rabiot commented on the coach’s reaction, amongst other things, via MilanNews.

“I’m happy to be here at Milan. I think we could have done better, especially in the first half. There’s a lot of quality in this team and we can do better.”

“Allegri’s always positive, he’s the coach, he has to show he’s confident and has a positive attitude because there are a lot of young players. It’s not like we’re last.

“Of course, we wanted to win this match. Fiorentina is on Sunday, we’ll try to do well, and he’s always like that, it’s not like he was shouting inside. He told us things that we could have done better in the first half, we’re all aware of that.

“Lately, when we go on the pitch against smaller teams, we struggle to find the goal.

Are Inter and Napoli the favourites?

“It’s true, they have stronger players. They have more quality and a deeper squad. That’s true. But then, with the way we work, the mentality we have, we can challenge them. We’ll see in the end, but we have our qualities.”

Are European competitions an advantage or a disadvantage?

“I don’t know. Ultimately, we always say that those who play in competitions are at a disadvantage, but ultimately, you still have more rhythm by playing more. If you win, you’re positive, you have enthusiasm.

“In my opinion, it’s not easy when you play once a week, because some people play less, so we have to keep everyone positive. We’re working hard. We’ll have time to do it again, but it’s not necessarily an advantage.”
