This weekend, AC Milan face Napoli in the biggest game of the season so far, and Adrien Rabiot has looked ahead to the game and other topics.

There is a lot of focus going on this weekend’s Serie A fixture, and rightly so. Milan could establish themselves as a genuine Scudetto competitor if they can beat Antonio Conte’s Napoli, who are perfect so far.

It is also a renewal of the Conte and Massimiliano Allegri rivalry, which is heavily anticipated after nearly 4,400 days. Then, you have the fact that Rafael Leao should play his first Serie A minutes of the season, too.

Heading into the game, there are several different angles and stories to add excitement to the pot.

Rabiot at the Via Dante Store

So, naturally, Rabiot was questioned on his thoughts about the game, among other topics, at the Via Dante Flagship store, where he held a meet and greet. MilanNews have relayed his words to the media from the event.

Can you feel the Rossoneri’s enthusiasm for you?

“I hope it’s a great season. I’m happy because everyone has welcomed me, from my teammates to the staff and the fans. I started playing straight away, I’m doing well, so it’s all positive.”

Is Milan-Napoli already a Scudetto match?

“No, it’s just the beginning; the championship is long. It’s a match to demonstrate and show where we are as a team. But it won’t tell us whether we’ll win the championship or not.”

Has Allegri changed since he was at Juventus?

“He’s a strong coach and has quality players; we’re also solid. We need to keep working, but I see a quality AC Milan with many young players who are eager to work and experienced players who can support them. We’re building a good group.”

Is AC Milan’s midfield the most talented in Italy?

“It’s definitely top-notch. Then there are teams like Inter, Juventus, and Napoli who have quality, but we’ll focus on ourselves without looking at the other teams. We’ll see where we are later, but for now I’m happy with what I’m seeing.”

Is it a coincidence that he hasn’t conceded a single goal since arriving at Milan?

“We can’t say it’s my fault… I know the coach and the staff well, I know their mentality, I think the players are learning it, and it shows on the pitch. I have this desire to win and not concede, but obviously, I’m not alone. It’s just the beginning, let’s stay calm and keep working.”

Why didn’t Rabiot arrive earlier?

“It’s football and life, but now I’m here and I’m happy, I think it shows on the pitch. I hope to do my best for the team and to make the fans happy. I hope to do well and do well as a team.”

Do you feel like something great is developing?

“Yes, because the coach is good at this, at building a group and involving everyone. This is an important part of building a team that wants to win. I’m pleasantly surprised by this; the team has changed quite a bit, but we’re doing very well. There are young players with the right mentality; I hope this is the start of something great.”

After Napoli, there will be Juventus…

“I spent five years at Juventus, I have great memories. It won’t be a match like any other, but I’m a Milan player now and I’ll try to do my best to win, obviously. For the rest, I wish Juventus all the best because they have some very good people there who helped me when I was there.

“But I’ll try to win every match, even against Juventus. I’m focused and very happy to be here at Milan.”
