Rabiot fuels renewal hopes for ‘extraordinary’ Maignan: “Mike loves the Rossoneri”

Adrien Rabiot hopes that Mike Maignan will decide to stay at AC Milan, confirming that the goalkeeper ‘loves’ the club.

A lot of the headlines in the Italian media surround Maignan, and rightly so after his heroics against Inter. His contract expires at the end of the season which has backed Milan into a corner, especially with reports suggesting that the Frenchman is still unhappy with how negotiations halted months ago.

Depending on which sources you believe, Maignan is angry with Milan and is heading for Juventus, Inter or the Premier League, or he has a great relationship with Massimiliano Allegri and his goalkeeping coach so he could change his mind about leaving.

Rabiot gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport in which he spoke about a number of topics, from Milan being a team ready to win, to the impact that certain individuals are making. Among the questions were a couple about his compatrior.

Do you hope he renews his contract and stays at Milan?

“Yes, obviously I hope so, like everyone at Milan. Maignan is an extraordinary goalkeeper, and there aren’t many in the world as good as him. He’s a key player for us, and Mike loves the Rossoneri shirt.

“I won’t get involved in the negotiations between him and the club’s management, but I hope he continues to grow at this club, with a coach like Allegri, and in this group.”
