Ravezzani backs Allegri and Chivu’s selection in forgettable Supercoppa Italiana

The well-known journalist Fabio Ravezzani has backed Max Allegri and Cristian Chivu’s decisions to field some of the reserves in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-finals.

Most would agree that Milan’s exit from the competition wasn’t so surprising, given the draw against Sassuolo just before and Napoli’s evident lust for revenge (after the league defeat to the Rossoneri). However, Inter’s failure against Bologna certainly wasn’t expected.

If you look at the starting eleven of both teams, you can see that Allegri and Chivu opted for some rotation. Davide Bartesaghi and Luka Modric were both benched for Milan, while Lautaro Martinez, Manuele Akanji and Hakan Calhanoglu got some rest too.

On his X account, the Telelombardia director Fabio Ravezzani commented on the above and explained that the managers made the right decision. In his words, the Supercoppa Italiana is usually forgotten after two months anyway.

“I approve of Chivu and Allegri’s choices. The Supercoppa is a competition that after two months, no one or almost no one will remember. It’s right to let the reserves play, also when you consider the potential final,” he stated.

In addition to the rotation, it should be noted that the Rossoneri were without the likes of Matteo Gabbia and Rafael Leao, so the game was a difficult task to begin with.
