Santiago Gimenez is currently recovering from ankle surgery, which is set to keep him out for 3-4 months, and the pundit Fabio Ravezzani has urged the AC Milan fans to change their views on the player.
It was at the start of November that Gimenez announced he would be taking a step back, focusing fully on recovering from an ankle issue that had been preventing him from playing at his best. However, as the conservative therapy didn’t work, he was forced to undergo surgery last month.
Given his goal tally this season, with only one goal scored in the Coppa Italia, Gimenez was inevitably on the receiving end of a lot of criticism. The ankle problem made things worse, with some taunting the Mexican for his poor physical condition (as everything took much longer than expected).
The well-known journalist and pundit Fabio Ravezzani, who’s the director of Telelombardia, has hit out at this criticism on his X account. Offering his support to Gimenez, he stated that the Milan fans were wrong to portray the striker in a bad light before knowing the full story.
“It’s especially regrettable that Gimenez was considered a flop, was mocked for the ankle problem, and was even portrayed as a malingerer. It’s only natural that it affected him psychologically too. He deserved more respect from everyone,” he wrote.
