Real Madrid has issued an apology after an error was picked out in a tribute video including Diogo Jota, the former Liverpool attacker, and his brother, Andre Silva, who tragically passed away in a car accident during the summer.
As the Spanish giant made reference to the notable figures who have lost their lives over the past year, Real Madrid accidentally included a picture of Andre da Silva, who currently represents the Spanish side Elche.
"Real Madrid C.F. apologizes to Elche C.F. and its player Andre da Silva for having mistakenly included his image in the obituary of an institutional video instead of that of Andre Silva, the brother of Diogo Jota, the Liverpool player," a statement posted to social media read after the mistake had been remedied. "We regret this incident."
After the video was broadcast at the Ordinary General Assembly of Representative Members, club president Florentino Perez also offered a verbal apology for the mistake.
By coincidence, Real Madrid will play Elche later today in domestic league action, looking to move ahead of Barcelona in the La Liga standings.
Before the Champions League game between Liverpool and Real Madrid earlier this month, representatives from the Spanish side placed a special tribute to Jota and Silva outside Anfield.
Xabi Alonso, the Real Madrid manager and former Liverpool midfielder, laid a wreath at the memorial site alongside a couple of his players.
Jota's former teammate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, who left Merseyside over the summer, honored his friend with a personal message, with center-back Dean Huijsen also present.
"My mate Diogo. You are so missed but still so loved," the card attached to the floral tribute read. "Yours and Andre's memory will always live on.

"I smile every time I think about you and will always remember the great times we shared.
"Miss you mate, every day. Love Trent and family. Forever 20. YNWA."
A red PlayStation controller was also put down at the scene in honor of Jota's well-known love of gaming. On it were the words: "Forever a champion 20. TAA."
Alexander-Arnold and Jota played 145 times together for Liverpool, helping the Reds win the Premier League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and one Community Shield in that period.
