Real Madrid has been tipped to swoop for Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai amid his fantastic recent form.
Szoboszlai has been among the best players in the Premier League this term and has inarguably been the best player for the Reds during a difficult few months. He has played every minute across the league and Champions League, producing his best performances in attacking midfield and even appearing at right-back in some games earlier in the campaign.
Former Liverpool player Igor Biscan thinks that Szoboszlai's form has been so good that he could be the subject of interest from the Bernabeu.
“Dominik Szoboszlai is such a good player and is able to play in so many positions that any team in the world would probably want to have a player like him," Biscan told Boyle Sports.
“He can defend, he can really be the one to put pressure, to be aggressive, he can deliver from set pieces, he can attack the box.
"He can do whatever he wants to do on the football pitch and be a threat, and run the whole day, and he's also very good looking!
“For sure, his qualities are so good he can play in any team in the world, that’s why Real Madrid might be interested.”
Szoboszlai has just over two and a half years remaining on his Reds contract, but The Athletic recently reported that preliminary contract talks are taking place between Liverpool and the Hungary captain
Szoboszlai's current deal runs until 2028, and Liverpool is understandably keen to tie him to fresh terms amid his growing influence on the team.
An agreement over a new deal is not said to be imminent, but Liverpool fans will be pleased to know that work is being done in the background to ensure the 25-year-old stays at Anfield.
Despite Liverpool going through a difficult period in recent weeks, this season has been a good one for Szoboszlai, who has been a mainstay in the team.
Speaking after Szoboszlai delivered another impressive performance in last week's Champions League win over Real Madrid, Arne Slot said: "Steven Gerrard would have been proud of [that performance]. That’s probably the best compliment he can get!
"I think he’s been outstanding throughout the whole season, but these two games [against Aston Villa and Real Madrid] brought even more out of the team and out of him.
“For me, for obvious reasons; but it’s maybe smarter not to say those reasons because I don’t want to say the same things over and over again, and you probably know what I mean without me saying it?
“I think Dom has a lot, a lot, a lot of qualities, but one of them is also his work without the ball.
“And his work without the ball was... I like his work without the ball every single game and in the last two games that was probably even above his own standards.”
