Renna pleased with ‘excellent’ Milan Primavera performance vs. Atalanta amid age gap

Milan Primavera boss Giovanni Renna complimented the way that his side played against Atalanta in their goalless draw on Sunday.

Atalanta and Milan Primavera drew 0-0 in a match played this morning at the Bortolotti Centre in Zingonia. La Dea climb to 16 points in the standings, while the Rossoneri are eighth with 12 points, with their young group continuing to compete almost every week.

In truth, the Rossoneri had their chances to win it particularly between the 60th and 80th minutes, with some opportunities going begging. In the final moments it was the home side that got themselves on top, and the goalkeeper Longoni made some saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Renna spoke to Milan TV after the game to reflect on a fifth game in a row without a defeat, and his words were relayed by MilanNews.

A positive performance, with just a winning goal missing…

“Exactly, we put in a good performance, and I congratulate my players. We were up against a top-ranked team that has dominated the league so far, so I congratulate my players.”

A great performance despite the clear age difference. Does that mean the process is progressing quickly?

“Yes, we set out with this group of young players to do a job specifically for them. We’ve been doing it since the start of the season, and the results are starting to show because today, the age difference between the Atalanta players and us wasn’t really noticeable. We played a truly excellent match. It’s the right path for the project we’re pursuing.”
