Report: Bayern Munich surpass Milan competitive record from 1992/93

Last night, Bayern Munich broke a record that AC Milan had kept since the early 1990s, relating to wins in a row.

The Milan team of the early 90s was feared by everyone, as they firmly established themselves as one of the best European sides in history. Coached by Fabio Capello, the 1992/93 season was superb, as the Rossoneri won the Scudetto and the Supercoppa Italiana, whilst being the runners-up in the Champions League.

Jean-Pierre Papin and Marco van Basten led the attack, with Ruud Gullit also aiding the forward line, whilst Zvonimir Boban, Frank Rijkaard, Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi and Alessandro Costacurta stood out elsewhere.

Though the list of names in that team goes on. A truly fantastic team that was recognised as one of the greats.

33-year record

Their level was cemented into history, too, and it has taken more than 30 years for them to lose one of their records from that season. As BuliNews reports, Bayern Munich now hold the record for the most consecutive wins in a row.

The Diavolo held the record after winning 13 in a row in the 1992/93 season, but the Bavarian giants have now hit 14 after a win in the DFB Pokal last night. Whether this Bayern team will be remembered as fondly by history, though, remains to be seen.
