Report: Milan lining up €5m Allegri reunion for out-of-favour Liverpool forward

AC Milan remain interested in signing Federico Chiesa from Liverpool, and are plotting a move in the winter transfer window.

There has been a lot of speculation about Chiesa’s future since the start of the summer mercato, and though he ended up remaining at Liverpool the signs still point towards his current position in the squad being untenable.

The winger was excluded from Liverpool’s Champions League squad, with Rio Ngumoha getting the nod over him. That means he will have to sit on the sidelines and watch during the big European nights, while in the Premier League he seems to have a bit-part role under Arne Slot too.

Milan still interested

According to the latest from MilanLive, Chiesa is not and will not be a key player for Liverpool, which is why he will be ‘pushing harder in January to leave and regain consistency’. He has the 2026 World Cup in mind, more specifically getting a starting spot under Gennaro Gattuso.

Thus, the chance to return to Serie A could appeal, and Milan are planning a €5m low-cost coup to get Chiesa on a permanent transfer. The Rossoneri’s plan is ‘to further strengthen a squad that is already worthy of the Scudetto’.

The report mentions that Chiesa would be linking back up with Massimiliano Allegri, under whom he amassed 16 goals and 14 assists in 86 games at Juventus between 2021 and 2024. The coach appreciates his qualities and ‘wouldn’t mind having him back’.

Milan meanwhile allowed Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze to leave late in the summer. While Chiesa is a natural winger and Allegri is playing a 3-5-2, he could also take up a role in the front two.
