Report: Milan reach total agreement with Saelemaekers over renewal – the latest

Alexis Saelemaekers has reportedly reached an agreement with Milan over a new contract, which would extend his stay until 2030.

This season, Saelemaekers has been an important player for Milan in the right wing-back role. Returning from his impressive loan spell at Roma, Massimiliano Allegri put him to use, and the situation was made even better by the switch to the 3-5-2 formation.

Thanks to his versatility and work rate, the Belgian has quickly won over the fans too, especially since he has proved to be more clinical than in recent seasons with the Rossoneri. So far, he has two goals and four assists.

Agreement now reached

It’s been reported for quite some time, with Milan keen on extending the relationship, but Radio Rossonera reported earlier today that an agreement has been reached. Once signed, it will make 2030 the new contract deadline for the winger.

Seeing as the current deadline is 2027, which would put him in the one-year-left category next summer, it certainly makes sense to renew. At just €1.3m per year, Saelemaekers also deserves a pay rise to get away from what would be considered an entry-level salary.

It remains to be seen when the parties will sign the deal, but you would imagine that it will be relatively soon.
