Reports: Allegri wants Milan to sign Thiago Silva – the reasons and the player’s stance

Multiple reports are claiming that Massimiliano Allegri wants Thiago Silva to rejoin AC Milan in the winter transfer window.

Koni De Winter’s struggles continued last night in Riyadh as he struggled to contain Rasmus Hojlund, with the Dane getting an assist and then a goal. It further confirmed the need to sign a new central defender who can give greater guarantees in the event of an injury or the need for rotation.

Allegri gives green light

MilanNews write that ‘the name of Thiago Silva was already echoing around the Al Awwal Stadium in Riyadh last night’. Allegri has asked for another centre-back in addition to a striker in January, and he believes that the Brazilian would be ‘a perfect fit’.

As a reminder, the former Chelsea man has decided to leave Fluminense as a free agent after his deal ended. He seems to be set on a return to Europe, both to play in a more competitive league and to be closer to his family.

Allegri is therefore in favour of a six-month contract for the 41-year-old, which would bring another leader to the club, capable of maintaining everyone’s concentration and enhancing the team’s technical level. He can also cover all three positions, which helps.

Thiago is looking for a solution that will allow him to be in top form for the World Cup next summer. He wants to be there with Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil, and Milan could use someone with his motivation. Max speaks to him often, and there’s a feeling he could integrate immediately.

ESPN Brasil (via MilanNews) also claim Allegri has opened the door to a return to Milanello for Thiago Silva. He knows him well and believes he could be a very valuable addition, but Thiago’s first choice is a return to the Premier League, where his family lives, while Porto are also pushing.

Meanwhile, Luca Cohen is reporting that immediately after the match Allegri spoke with the management and once again made it clear to them that he needs a defender as a priority. He wants someone with experience, and though the club aren’t keen on Thiago Silva, they may reconsider.
