AC Milan claimed another victory this weekend, but it was not without some controversy. One that has gotten several parties talking.
Looking at the game now, it is impossible to gloss over the late drama. It was almost a cruel ending to a pretty solid performance. One which would see Milan possibly lose two points and keep them off the top spot.
However, the penalty given against Strahinja Pavlovic was overturned, and the Rossoneri did not have to leave three points to chance.
Two mistakes
Given that Massimiliano Allegri was sent off, the incident had a lot of talking points, especially with it being unclear what happened at points.
As MilanNews relays from multiple reports, things have been cleared up. As the referee authorities state, the ‘elbow’ from Pavlovic was not punishable, so the penalty was chalked off. However, there was no foul on the Serbian either.
So, the corner originally given to Lazio should have stood, and this has seen Di Paolo, who was the chief for VAR this weekend, get suspended for a double error. So, he should be suspended for two games before restarting in Serie B, as Gazzetta dello Sport wrote.
On another day, who knows what those errors may have led to?
