As the cameras panned around the stands of San Siro, an interesting attendee was spotted: Andrea Agnelli, the former chairman of Juventus.
As Tuttosport report, Angelli – who was a central figure in a winning era for Juventus – was spotted in the stands watching Milan-Verona alongside Hugh Grant, and in the same section with Scaroni, Baresi, Enrico Letta, Tare, Furlani and new signing Fullkrug.
His presence is making waves precisely because it’s rare. He’s been seen little in the world of football in recent years, following his resignation from the Old Lady in 2022 and a long period of public silence. Yet football, once again, seems to be calling him back.
Agnelli meets Allegri
Seeing Agnelli at San Siro, a historic temple of Italian football and home to his great rivals, has a symbolic significance. He no longer occupies a commanding position, he no longer dictates strategy or political lines, but his presence remains imposing.
After leaving the Juventus presidency, Agnelli has chosen a low profile. No statements, few public appearances and a clear distance from the football system he helped shape for over a decade. An almost total absence from the stadiums followed, too.

In the background, inevitably, is his friendship with Massimiliano Allegri, now at Milan. The most successful coach in Juventus’ history was Agnelli’s right-hand man, the coach with whom he shared league titles, European finals and memorable seasons.
The pair have a solid relationship, built on respect and friendship, one that never broke. Even after his dismissal in 2024, he had kind words for Max: “An extraordinarily unique mix: pride and humanity that continually blended throughout a ten-year journey. Thank you, Max, thank you, for representing Juventus with every cell of your being.”
Today, Agnelli observes from afar, as a mere spectator, but his story still makes him a protagonist, even when he isn’t formally one. The lunchtime match at San Siro makes it unclear whether this is just a one-off or the beginning of a more frequent presence.
It certainly confirms one thing: some figures in Italian football never truly stop making headlines. Even when they return in silence, sitting in the stands, watching any game. And the fans on social media have gone wild.
Milan fans also joked about it: “Andrea Agnelli has made more appearances at San Siro in the last two years than Cardinale,” “Buy us, please.” The messages were numerous, as were the memes, with many Juventus supporters looking back at images of the former president with a hint of melancholy.
La Gazzetta dello Sport recall what Allegri told reporters in the mixed zone: “I was very pleased that the president came to watch the game. Beyond the professional aspect, we have a relationship that goes beyond the human level.
“Now he’s waiting for me to go to lunch. What will we talk about? We’ll mess around, as is right. Above all, I’m happy because if I’d conceded a goal, he would have wound me up. He’s one of those guys who doesn’t like conceding goals.”
Informal meetings between Agnelli and Allegri are actually commonplace, building on a genuine friendship that has strengthened over the years spent in Turin. The Christmas holidays brought Agnelli back to Italy, hence the visit to his old friend Max, but not for a work-related discussion.
