Reports: Gimenez ‘not untouchable’ for Milan with agent told to fetch offers – the situation

AC Milan striker Santiago Gimenez’s agent has reportedly been ‘given the mandate’ to bring offers to the table from other clubs.

As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) report this morning, Milan are close to finalising the deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface. The last details still to be completed before everything goes through, but crucially he might not be the only striker to arrive.

Massimiliano Allegri wants a center forward with different characteristics than Santiago Gimenez and this doesn’t mean they won’t make a late attempt for Sporting CP’s young talent Conrad Harder, valued at around €25 million.

What does this mean for Gimenez? Well, the paper claims that his agent Rafaela Pimenta has been given the mandate to bring in offers higher than €28m for the Mexican centre-forward, who arrived at Milan from Feyenoord in January.

Nicolo Schira adds: “As revealed two months ago, Santiago Gimenez is not untouchable for Milan, who could open the door to his sale if a bid from €30m and up arrives.”

Gimenez’s words

In our recent Devil’s Advocate column, we wrote at length about why it would be a bad idea to cast Gimenez aside. The player himself seemed to offer some reassurance too in a press conference with the national team over the summer.

“I feel at home in Milan, I’m living a dream, I thank God for giving me the chance to be in such a big team as Milan,” he told the reporters present.

“I think there were a lot of rumours that I could leave, but I’m very happy there. I spoke with the management, with the coaching staff, and the idea is that I stay. I will try to show my best version, because I don’t want to waste an opportunity like this.”
