Reports: Gomez to Milan deal currently off – alternative set to land for medical

2 months ago 16

AC Milan have had to walk away from the Joe Gomez deal with Liverpool’s approval not having arrived, and they have turned to an alternative.

Heading into deadline day, it seemed that all the conditions were there for Gomez to fly in for a medical. Marc Guehi appeared to be Liverpool-bound, freeing the Englishman to make the switch to San Siro, but now everything has fallen apart on deadline day.

According to Luca Bendoni of Sky, Milan have chosen to walk away from the Gomez deal as they have not received authorisation for him to travel yet. An agreement was in place and the centre-back was ready to join, but the deal is ‘now off’.

Meanwhile, the management have closed the operation for the alternative as David Odogu will arrive at Linate airport at 14:30 CEST, as per MilanNews. He is certainly a more raw profile at the age of 18 and with just three senior league appearances to his name.

There has even been some talk that Odogu could start with Milan Futuro given his lack of experience, so it seems Massimiliano Allegri will not get the more experienced central defender he wants, one that can push for a starting spot immediately.
