Reports: Leeds ‘pursuing’ Okafor but Fenerbahce join race – the situation

Noah Okafor could be set for a move late in the summer transfer window, as Fenerbahce have now joined the race to land him.

Okafor headed to Napoli for the second half of the last campaign, struggling to really make much of a mark and thus returning to base. The Swiss has had a great preseason though, scoring a brace against both Liverpool and Perth Glory, and showing himself to be comfortable in a more central position.

This led to suggestions that Massimiliano Allegri might actually consider keeping him at the club, as a useful deputy left winger but also an option down the middle if needed too. That said, the possibility of a permanent exit has never gone away.

Okafor in demand

Leeds United aren’t the only club interested in Noah Okafor. According to Sky (via MilanNews), José Mourinho’s Fenerbahce are also among the teams keen in the forward.

Meanwhile, Matteo Moretto has given an update on Moretto during a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel.

“A small update on Okafor. The Milan striker has been linked to Leeds in the last few hours, but we’re currently unaware of any real, concrete negotiations between the parties,” he said.

“It’s true that Leeds are pursuing Okafor, and it’s also true that Leeds may even consider a permanent move in these final weeks of the transfer window.

“There’s been a lot of talk so far, and the parties are discussing it verbally, but Leeds hasn’t made a formal move in writing yet. Nothing concrete or advanced is currently underway, but Leeds will certainly look to Milan for Okafor.”
