Niclas Füllkrug is now just one step away from joining AC Milan on loan with an option to buy, per reports, as the deal could be closed in the coming days.
Amid their struggles up front, more specifically with Christopher Nkunku and Santiago Gimenez, Milan are looking to add a striker to the team next month. A few players have been linked with the club but in the last week or so, Füllkrug has clearly become the top target.
The German striker hasn’t exactly been hugely successful at West Ham, with just three goals scored, but the Rossoneri believe he showed enough at Borussia Dortmund and with the German national team. Above all, however, it likely has to do with the feasibility of the deal.
Documents being prepared
According to Luca Bianchin, Milan and West Ham are in the process of preparing the documents for the deal. The Rossoneri’s goal is to close the signing between today and Monday, so that the striker potentially can make his debut on January 8 against Genoa.

As added by Fabrizio Romano, the parties are indeed getting closer as Füllkrug said yes to the move several days ago. It should be a loan with an option to buy, as expected, and the option should be worth around €14-15m.
In short, it seems to be just a matter of time before this signing will get over the line, at which point Milan will finally have a new striker. Whether the 32-year-oldf is the right choice, however, is a different question.
