After the signing of Christopher Nkunku, AC Milan have been looking at more Chelsea players who could strengthen the squad.
Milan want to sign another centre-back before the window closes, to provide Massimiliano Allegri with a fifth option for the three-man defence. The management made a serious attempt to sign Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji, but were unsuccessful as he wants Champions League football.
MilanNews report that the Rossoneri have begun exploring other options, such as Chelsea’s Axel Disasi who is on the fringes of Enzo Maresca’s plans.
In addition to the Franco-Congolese, sporting director Igli Tare is also reportedly evaluating Wesley Fofana (also at Chelsea) and Juan Foyth (Villarreal).
Meanwhile, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan have been evaluating Fofana and Benoit Badiashile for the defensive department. The former has been held back by Maresca after Levi Cowill’s serious injury, but the latter could be allowed to go.
It seems that Milan are looking for the classic ‘market opportunity’ late in the window to address the position. Moreover, relations with Chelsea are known to be strong after previous operations like Fikayo Tomori, Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic, so future business feels almost a certainty.
