Reports: Milan risk missing out on left-back as Fenerbahce table €9m offer

AC Milan are evaluating Archie Brown as Theo Hernandez’s successor, per multiple reports, but they are facing heavy competition from Turkey for his signature.

Following the departure of Theo Hernandez, which was confirmed last night, Milan now need to sign a left-back. Not that many names have been linked with the club for that role, truth be told, but Gent’s Brown seems to be the most concrete candidate.

However, while the 23-year-old has a reasonable price tag and salary, the road to his signature is not clear-cut for Milan. Indeed, there is some competition that the Rossoneri will have to fight off, at least based on the latest reports.

Milan and Fenerbahce go head-to-head

Last night, Matteo Moretto stated that Milan were ‘accelerating’ their pursuit of Brown, holding new contacts with his entourage and Gent. He also said that an agreement was close between the clubs, but the situation has seemingly changed a little.

Gianluca Di Marzio then went on Sky Italia and said that Fenerbahce had beaten Milan to the punch, reaching an agreement with Gent. Sacha Tavolieri echoed what the journalist said as Fenerbahce and Gent have reached an agreement at €8-9m, per his sources.

However, Milan remain in the race as Igli Tare has held talks with Brown, who naturally would like to join the San Siro side. The Rossoneri need to put an offer on the table, first and foremost, otherwise the left-back will shortly complete the move to Turkey.
