More information has emerged regarding the condition of Alexis Saelemaekers, after he went off during last night’s win over Lecce.
Saelemaekers was a strong contender for Man of the Match (he actually was crowned it in our player ratings) during Milan’s 1-0 victory against Lecce. After a tireless performance on the right, he hooked in a perfect cross that led to the winning goal, scored by Niclas Füllkrug.
However, in the closing stages of the game, the Belgian seemed to come out of a tackle with an opponent badly and immediately started touching the top of his leg. Massimiliano Allegri opted to bring him off, with Zachary Athekame replacing him.
Saelemaekers was spotted in the post-game celebrations under the Curva Sud with a big ice pack taped to his adductor area, and he underwent a scan this morning to see exactly how much damage has been done.
According to MilanNews, the result of these tests is that Alexis Saelemaekers has suffered strain in his left adductor. Sky and Di Marzio are both also reporting the same.
His condition will be monitored during the week, but it obviously puts him in doubt for the trip to face Roma on Sunday, the club he was at last season and would no doubt love to play against.
