Alexis Saelemaekers is set to commit his long-term future to AC Milan, with an agreement having been reached over a renewal.
On Sunday after the 2-2 draw with Sassuolo, a report from Radio Rossonera claimed that Saelemaekers and Milan had reached a verbal agreement over a contract extension for the Belgian wing-back until 2030.
Now, further confirmations have arrived. MilanNews report that the announcement will be made soon and Saelemaekers’ strong performance will be rewarded with a contract extension but also with a pay rise: the new agreement is expected to be worth approximately €3m until 2030.
Massimiliano Allegri arrived at Milan in the summer and liked what he saw from the Belgian. After continuing his development wit loan spells at Bologna and Roma, the Belgian returned to Milan and immediately assumed a central role in Allegri’s tactical plan.
His current deal expires in 2027, but the new contract is nothing less than a fitting reward for a player who is performing at his full potential, yet still has room for improvement.
Calciomercato.com report that negotiations have been ongoing for a month between the parties, and now there are verbal agreements that will soon translate into signatures on a new contract. He will indeed extend by three years, with his pay doubling from the current €1.5m net he receives.
