Sergio Ramos wants to return to Europe in the winter window, and AC Milan are among the potential destinations for him.
Ramos has been playing for Monterrey in Mexico, but on Saturday there has been a flurry of reports suggesting that he wishes to come back to Europe to perhaps try one final adventure before hanging up his boots.
Fabrizio Romano stated: “The decision has been made: Sergio Ramos will leave Rayados and try new chapter in his career. The desire is to join a new club, not to retire at this stage as Juanfe Sanz reported. Ramos will be available as free agent in 2026.”
According to El Chiringuito, the priority for Ramos is to return to a Spanish side, provided he receives an offer that fully convinces him based on the project and on his role, given that he wants to be a starter.
The former Real Madrid captain is convinced that by playing consistently and in a higher level league, he could convince Spain head coach De la Fuente to consider him for the World Cup squad next summer.

Italy a possibility?
Calciomercato.com report that the dream remains a romantic return to Real Madrid, but this a highly unlikely – if not impossible – scenario. If a return to the Spanish capital seems improbable, there’s no reason to close the door on a move to Serie A.
On a free transfer, as a free agent and with a sustainable salary, it’s not unthinkable to imagine Ramos doing what Luka Modric did and making the move to Italy. Juventus could consider him, while Inter might consider him to replace Acerbi, De Vrij and/or Darmian.
Then there is Milan, who are also looking for an experienced defender, with Thiago Silva having been linked in recent weeks. The situation would be similar: a 40-year-old player to enhance the leadership and experience of the defensive unit, as well as a winner to drive standards higher.
A few months ago this feels like it would go against RedBird Capital’s youth-led recruitment policy, but after the signings of Modric and Adrien Rabiot, it seems there is a certain openness to bringing in the right kind of veterans.
Sergio Ramos has previously spoken about his admiration for Milan and club legend Paolo Maldini, while he was linked with a move to the Rossoneri by El Chiringuito back in 2021.
