Reports: Sporting CP talent could arrive in addition to Boniface as Milan sense ‘opportunity’

The deal for Victor Boniface is close to being closed, but AC Milan might yet bring in another striker as per reports.

Milan are expected to complete the signing of Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen in the next day or two, with the centre-forward arriving on loan with a €30m option to buy. However, there is the possibility that he might not be the final attacking addition.

Going Harder

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning that while sporting director Igli Tare sent an offer to Leverkusen for Boniface, the Rossoneri were also speaking with Sporting CP about Conrad Harder.

The Portuguese club acquired him last summer from Nordsjaelland for €19m, and now value him around €25. They are willing to loan him out with an option to buy, which becomes a mandatory obligation under certain conditions, a formula that appeals to Milan.

Harder would be a reinforcement not only for the present, but also for the future, as we’re talking about a striker who is only 20 years old but already has a fair amount of experience at the highest levels.

Meanwhile, Matteo Moretto also offered an update on Milan’s movements in the forward areas in a video on Fabrizio Romano’s channel, and he too suggested that another signing could follow Boniface.

“Last night Milan and Bayer Leverkusen reached an agreement for Victor Boniface. The two clubs have started preparing the documents that they hope to exchange today,” he said.

“It is a discussion that the two clubs have set on the basis of a loan with an option to buy set at around €30m. So everything is ok between the two clubs, in the next few hours Boniface’s agent will be in Milan to try to close the agreement with Milan on the contract.

An agreement needs to be found on the Nigerian’s future contract in case in a year’s time the Diavolo decide to buy him outright. Max Allegri could therefore soon have his new number 9.

“Let’s now talk about Conrad Harder, a 2005-born striker from Sporting Lisbon. Milan continue to monitor him even though they are close to closing the deal for Victor Boniface in the next few hours.

“Harder remains one of the names on the table that Milan is evaluating to see if he can become a transfer opportunity. His value is around €20-22m.

“Sporting initially wanted to sell him only permanently, but are now open to other options. The player would like to change clubs. AC Milan will continue to monitor this option.”

Last season at Sporting, Harder managed to score 13 goals in all competitions, playing in the shadow of Viktor Gyokeres. In addition to his role as a centre-forward, he was also used as a winger in Portugal, and this versatility could be greatly appreciated by Massimiliano Allegri.

At Milan, he could therefore find himself equally at home in a front two like the 3-5-2 currently adopted by Allegri, or in a 4-3-3 either as a winger or a striker.
