Reports: The two reasons Milan have halted pursuit of Almeria star after medical check

The Marc Pubill situation continues to confuse, as AC Milan have slowed down again after they seemed to accelerate.

Things seemed to be heading one way regarding Pubill after Fabrizio Romano‘s update on Friday: “AC Milan are set to discuss terms with Almeria and Marc Pubill’s camp over potential transfer for the Spanish right back.

“Wolves want Pubill, ready to close deal… but Marc keeps waiting for AC Milan. Decision up to Milan after positive initial medical check done today.” However, since then news to the contrary has arrived.

Another slowdown

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, it is radio silence again on the Pubill front. There has been no recent contact between Milan and Almeria and it’s more of a technical issue than a physical one.

Marc passed the medical tests with flying colors in Barcelona, which the Rossoneri staff also attended, but there seems to be some concerns about whether he is the right mould of player for Massimiliano Allegri.

Both Alex Jimenez and Alexis Saelemaekers can operate at right-back, while the coach might even use Fikayo Tomori there. Emerson Royal, on the other hand, will be leaving: Besiktas, on loan, is a temporary solution.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) also report that although preliminary medical examinations have been conducted on Pubill to determine the condition of his knee, the Spaniard’s arrival is uncertain.

The operation could even fall through and two factors are to be considered: financial reasons (Spain reports the asking price is €20m and Wolverhampton are fully committed) and internal club considerations.
