Malick Thiaw is reportedly very close to completing a move to Newcastle as the English side have increased their offer to €40m, which Milan are prepared to accept.

Thiaw has been heavily linked with Newcastle in the last few days, following an initial offer of €30m, and Gianluca Di Marzio reported this morning that an improved offer would be tabled. Sure enough, with multiple sources now confirming this, a transfer is getting closer.

Improved offer confirmed

According to Matteo Moretto, Newcastle have come up to €40m including bonuses and Thiaw has already given his green light to the move. In the event of a sale, Milan are ready to focus on Fiorentina’s Pietro Comuzzo as the replacement.

Pietro Mazzara and Daniele Longo are also confirming the €40m offer, stating that a response is expected shortly from Milan and the CEO Giorgio Furlani. The latter journalist even tweeted that the defender is ‘one step away’ from joining Newcastle.

The offer, per Longo, is €36m plus an additional €4m in bonuses. Considering that Milan paid less than €10m for the defender back in 2022, a sizeable capital gain would be registered if he does end up leaving for €40m.

As for the pursuit of Comuzzo, an offer of €25m plus bonuses could soon be sent to Fiorentina, according to Moretto. At the age of 20 and with a lot of potential, it would certainly be an ideal replacement.
