AC Milan are working at Milanello to prepare for Sunday’s game against Sassuolo at San Siro, and news on the injured players has arrived.
Calciomercato.com report that Massimiliano Allegri and his coaching staff trying to recover some players from injury for the game against the Neroverdi, although there aren’t particularly positive indications at the moment.
Injury updates
As widely expected, Rafael Leao will miss the game. The Portuguese international also worked separately today, undergoing new treatments to resolve the inflammation following muscle discomfort in his right adductor during the away match against Torino.
That means that on Sunday, Christopher Nkunku will partner Christian Pulisic in attack, and we will have to wait a while longer until we see the designated first choice front two of Leao and Pulisic start again together up top.

Regarding the other injured players, Zachary Athekame is close to returning to full training, while Santiago Gimenez – who has been sidelined for a month and a half – has not yet returned to the group but is continuing his recovery. Youssouf Fofana is also still out and expected to miss out on Sunday.
MilanNews confirm the above and also add that Athekame – who has been sidelined in recent weeks with a muscle injury sustained during the November international break – is expected to return to training with the team tomorrow. Whether he can be called up is uncertain.
