Repubblica: Füllkrug out €500k as burglars broke into hotel room during Milan training

Niclas Füllkrug has had a good start to life with AC Milan on the pitch, but off it, about €500k’s worth of watches and jewellery have been taken from him.

According to La Repubblica, the German striker has been staying at a luxury/high-end hotel since joining Milan on loan from West Ham. This is usually the case for new signings as the Rossoneri want to help them as much as possible in the beginning, giving them a safe space. Or so you thought.

On Wednesday morning, Füllkrug left his hotel room and travelled to Milan’s training ground, Milanello, for the session of the day. However, upon returning to his hotel room, he found that it had been broken into by burglars.

The safety box had been forced open too, enabling the burglars to steal watches and jewellery with an estimated value of €500k. As the newspaper continues, it’s believed that Füllkrug didn’t have insurance for these items either, though you would imagine the hotel has to take some blame.

Authorities are investigating the matter and Füllkrug has confirmed what was taken from the room. Considering that Milan chose their hotels carefully, this incident could end up being very damaging for the hotel in question.

On the other hand, it’s not uncommon for low-level staff to work with criminals to make these sorts of (terrible) burglaries possible.
