Repubblica: Galliani fails to deny alleged meeting with Milan and Cardinale – the latest

Adriano Galliani has been linked with a sensational return to AC Milan in recent days, and according to a report, the 81-year-old hasn’t exactly denied the rumours either.

It was on Saturday that a report from Pianeta Milan suggested that Milan had considered the return of Galliani a few months back. A new role was supposedly discussed and while it didn’t materialise then, the idea hasn’t been scrapped by the club.

Since then, fans have been called out for Galliani’s return amid his experience and history with the club. However, while it would be a boost for the management, his return remains difficult to figure out in terms of the details.

Galliani fails to deny meeting

According to La Repubblica’s Enrico Curro, when asked about the alleged meeting with Gerry Cardinale and Milan over a role, Galliani simply replied “At the moment, I’m the CEO of Monza and I know nothing”. As highlighted by Curro, the ‘at the moment’ hasn’t exactly squashed the rumours.

That being said, it’s difficult to imagine which role he could take on. Paolo Scaroni (president) and Giorgio Furlani (CEO) are both happy in their roles, unwilling to leave for now, and they are also tied to Elliott Management which still need to be repaid in full by Cardinale.

As Curro concludes, it’s possible that Galliani – presumably alongside the now former Monza owner Fininvest – could explore the idea of becoming a minority shareholder of Milan. That would change the situation completely, eliminating the role issue (though bringing other issues into play).
