Every transfer window the idea of a potential swap deal between AC Milan and a rival comes up, and there is no exception this time.
Reports have emerged in the past couple of days suggesting that Massimiliano Allegri is keen on a reunion with Federico Gatti, a defender that he promoted to the first team when he was in his second stint as Juventus head coach.
Possible swap on the cards?
According to La Repubblica, Allegri does indeed want Gatti at Milan. Juventus, in exchange, will ask the Rossoneri for the regista Luciano Spalletti wants: Samuele Ricci.
Ricci arrived last summer from Torino for €25m, and is highly sought after by the Bianconeri. A Gatti-Ricci swap between Milan and Juve could become the surprise of the winter, if an agreement on their respective valuations can be reached.
The alternatives for the Rossoneri are Milan Skriniar and Eric Dier, but both are complicated ideas for various reasons, which is why Sergio Ramos has not yet been crossed off the list of candidates.
Juve meanwhile want Davide Frattesi but Inter are asking for €35m to sell him, which is why the swap could gain ground, to fix a problem for each side without requiring a large cash outlay.
