AC Milan and Inter are trying to purchase San Siro, and they are hoping to see a discount occur this summer.
The stadium situation has been ongoing for far too long, to the point where most find it somewhat frustrating. Nevertheless, it seems like it is coming to an end, with Milan and Inter coming together to work on buying San Siro.
Both looked at their own new homes, but the cost of the project would have been far too great to actually work. So, with San Siro being an option for a lot less, the clubs have opted to move forward with this solution.
A decent discount
There have, as you would expect, been a few bumps in the road. However, the clubs are looking forward to a purchase, which does seem very possible, with a figure agreed. With that said, there could be a small discount up for grabs.
As Calcio e Finanza relays from this morning’s La Repubblica, the price of purchase could go down to €160 million, rather than the valuation of €197m. The reasoning is quite simple: there are remediation costs as well as some expenses from the Municipality.
According to Repubblica, the clubs ‘insisted’ on the discount, ‘citing the Stadium Law’ which states that the Municipality should cover the clean-up costs. To prevent this from being a burden to the Palazzo Marino, the clubs also agreed to chip in, effectively, and this is where the discount arrives.
It was suggested in July, but a decision will not be reached before the end of next month.
