Repubblica: Milan keep San Donato idea open in case of negative vote – Inter could follow

AC Milan have not fully given up on the idea of moving to San Donato yet, a report claims, and Inter could follow them there.

On Thursday, there was a debate inside the City Hall between council members regarding the sale of San Siro to Milan and Inter. The decisive vote is on Monday, and at the moment it seems too close to call regarding whether it will be approved or not.

If the clubs were to be denied the chance to buy the current stadium and surrounding area, then they would not be able to build a new home there. In that case, alternative solutions must be studied.

San Donato still an option

According to La Repubblica, Milan have retained their San Donato site as a potential Plan B, having invested €55m in the area which is in the south east of the city.

Not only that, but they report that Inter may follow their city rivals if the San Siro sale does not get voted through, suggesting that a join project could remain on the cards.

Inter had an option on a plot of land in Rozzano, on the other side of the city, but the option expired and it is anticipated that other companies will now purchase the area.

Everything hinges on Monday’s vote though, especially given that the two clubs have even gone so far as to pick the architectural studios that would work on the design.
