Ricci discusses starting with Jashari and facing his former coach: “We talk often”

Samuele Ricci spoke to the media ahead of AC Milan’s important clash against Fiorentina, sharing his thoughts on starting together with Ardon Jashari.

Milan’s confidence was slightly bruised on Thursday evening, due to the 1-1 draw against Genoa, so they will need to get back on the winning horse today. However, since they are facing an in-form Fiorentina side away from home, it likely won’t be an easy task.

In addition to a bruised confidence, Massimiliano Allegri has also been forced to make some rotation due to the tight schedule. Ricci is one of six changes (!) and just a few minutes ago, he spoke to DAZN (via MilanNews) about his role in midfield.

What tasks will you have together with Jashari?

“The tasks are always the same: trying to do everything and doing it well. Jashari and I get along well, like with the other midfielders in the team. We will try to play our game but the tasks are always the same: doing well defensively above all and then contributing in attack as well.”

How’s it like to face your former coach, Vanoli?

“I’ve already spoken to the coach, as beyond a professional relationship, a great friendship developed at Torino. We talk often. The coach taught me a lot, and I wish him the best. We will see how it goes today.”

It will definitely be interesting to see Ricci and Jashari together, considering that it has mostly been one or the other. The fact that they are both comfortably in the deep-sitting role, but also on either side, could help Milan be rather fluid with their positioning.
