Ahead of tonight’s game between AC Milan and Lazio, which is expected to be heated, the starting midfielder Samuele Ricci spoke to the media.
Ricci has been named in the starting eleven for the big clash at the Olimpico, making his first start since the game against Parma before the break. That was almost a month ago, but given it’s the Coppa Italia, it certainly makes sense to start him tonight.
Speaking to Mediaset, as transcribed by MilanNews, Ricci explained that the Coppa Italia is very important for Milan and that they intend to go as far as possible. He also shared his thoughts on the heated atmosphere since Saturday’s game against Lazio.
What does the Coppa Italia mean?
“It’s a very important trophy, Coppa Italia is one of our targets. We need to move forward and play a great game. 100% won’t be enough, especially considering how things went in the league. But we’re ready for this.”
Are you afraid of what might happen after the controversy on Saturday?
“We’re used to it. Every game has a story for or against us. It’s not up to us to judge. We just have to go out there and have fun and win.”
As Bologna managed to beat Parma earlier today, Vincenzo Italiano’s side will be up against the winner of tonight’s game in the quarter-finals. We can only hope that Milan will continue their positive run despite fielding an unusual (albeit expected) eleven
