The January mercato has just closed, and for now, the rumours of the future will become slightly quieter. However, now is a time to look at different situations for AC Milan.
It was a rather quiet month for Milan anyway, with January only seeing a few new faces, as opposed to the churn of last year. This was seemingly always going to be the case, though, with reports suggesting as much before Christmas.
Nevertheless, things could have been different, with it clear that another striker was desired. Initially, it seemed Francesco Camarda could have returned, but a shoulder injury impacted things. So, the focus turned to Jean-Philippe Mateta. However, he also did not arrive due to injury.
Riso’s review
With a bit of peace settling, Camarda’s agent Giuseppe Riso commented on the original plan for Camarda last month, and MilanNews have relayed his words to Tuttosport.
“It’s all true: Camarda was returning to Milan. Then he had a shoulder problem and had to have surgery. Maybe he’ll have more playing time at Lecce and will be able to give them a hand towards the end of the season.”
The agent also spoke about another of his clients, Sandro Tonali, and what the future holds for him.
“The rumours about Arsenal and Juventus? Newcastle are having a hard time letting go of Sandro, and he wants to lead the club into the Champions League. These transfer discussions will take place later. We’ll see how the season ends and then we’ll decide what to do.

“There’s no preference right now. It’s still early. What we’re saying today won’t apply tomorrow: Newcastle couldn’t let him go now, and it wasn’t worth moving, especially since Sandro is very attached to the club. We’ll evaluate and decide what to do in the summer.”
