Tottenham Hotspur have turned to Roberto De Zerbi to guide them out of trouble after parting ways with Igor Tudor.

Tottenham are now into their third head coach this season, with Tudor lasting just 44 days in the job after taking over from Thomas Frank.

The Croat has left Spurs sitting on the brink of the relegation zone, with just a point separating the Lilywhites and West Ham in 18th.

The North London club have now revealed which manager they have entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the club’s survival in the Premier League.

Roberto de Zerbi confirmed as Tottenham’s head coach

Rather than turning to another interim option to see them through to the end of the campaign, Vinai Venkatesham, Johan Lange and the rest of the Spurs leadership have decided to finalise the club’s next permanent head coach.

Tottenham have now announced that De Zerbi has signed a five-year deal to take charge of the club, just a month and a half after the Italian’s exit from Marseille.

De Zerbi built a great side at Brighton in his previous stint in the Premier League, and Spurs fans will be hoping that he can deliver a similar style of football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Both De Zerbi and Spurs have taken a gamble

This move arguably represents a gamble for both parties. For Tottenham, De Zerbi’s lack of experience in relegation battles, particularly in the Premier League, may have been a concern.

The former Seagulls boss is also taking a gamble by taking charge of a relation-threatened club at a time when his stock in the game is fairly high.

Only time will tell if this proves to be an inspired decision for both parties and a happy marriage, or if it ends in tears.
