AC Milan Women suffered a setback on Sunday afternoon as they were beaten by Roma away from home, in a game with just one goal.

Milan Femminile had another positive result on Sunday afternoon as they beat Genoa 2-1 thanks to a late goal. Again it was Kayleigh van Dooren who netted a brace, opening the scoring then bagging two minutes from time after Dompig had put her through on goal.

However, they were not able to back that up with another victory on Sunday. With a goal from former Milan captain Valentina Bergamaschi in the 66th minute, Roma beat the Rossonere and consolidated their lead in the Serie A table.

After a first half lacking in goals and in chances, the Giallorosse managed to secure a valuable victory at the Stadio Tre Fontane, thanks to a brilliant strike from Bergamaschi. It was a goal befitting of being the match-winner, and Suzanne Bakker’s side didn’t manage to muster a response.

As mentioned, Roma strengthened their grip at the top of the table and return to winning ways after the draw against Parma, rising to 32 points. Milan remain on 20 points and in fifth place, but the Rossonere’s last defeat prior to today dates back to the December derby.
