Romano: Atletico Madrid seal €20m Pubill deal after Wolves hijack and Milan stall

After being heavily linked with a move to AC Milan in the past few days, Marc Pubill is now heading for Atletico Madrid.

It has been a rather strange few days for Pubill. It started when the Almeria star underwent a medical over the weekend to assess the stability of his left knee, carried out by Milan’s doctors.

Everything suggested that the move would accelerate after he passed the tests, but it then emerged that it hadn’t removed the Rossoneri’s remaining doubts, which were more to do with his ability than his fitness.

Pubill heads for the capital

Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Spain U21 international will be moving, but to Madrid: “Atlético Madrid agree deal to sign Marc Pubill as RB from Almeria. Atléti hijack Wolves deal for Pubill and sign the RB on permanent move after an agreement reached today.

“Pubill signs five year contract as new Atlético player. Atlético Madrid paid €20m package with add-ons included for Marc Pubill. Almería will also have 15% sell-on clause.”

It comes after Pubill seemed Wolves-bound. The Premier League side offered €15m plus add-ons and sell-on clause for him and they hope to get the deal done in the next hours to beat the competition from other clubs, but in the end lost out.
