Romano: Boniface passes Werder Bremen medical after failed Milan move

Victor Boniface is expected to complete a move away from Bayer Leverkusen, but he will remain in the Bundesliga.

As a reminder, Milan were on the verge of signing Boniface a couple of weeks ago on what would have been an initial loan with an option to buy. However, concerns about his knee led to the club seeking further medical opinion, and eventually the deal was called off.

Since then, things had gone quiet on the Boniface front and Milan are yet to sign a natural striker, even though Christopher Nkunku did arrive from Chelsea. The Nigerian did break his silence on things during a stream.

In recent days though a new opportunity has emerged for Boniface: Werder Bremen. They came forward and offered a dry loan which Bayer Leverkusen have accepted, seemingly keen on offloading the forward.

Fabrizio Romano has provided the following update on social media: “Victor Boniface has signed his Werder Bremen contract until June 2026, loan with part of the salary covered. Medical completed as revealed.”

It comes after the news that Erik Ten Hag was sacked as Leverkusen’s head coach just two games into his tenure, so it is certainly a big shake-up for the Bundesliga runners-up from last year.
