Romano confirms Fenerbahce want Nkunku with movement occurring: “They’ve been in contact”

The situation surrounding Christopher Nkunku is certainly an interesting one. He arrived in the summer, but has not shown many signs of promise for AC Milan just yet.

Of course, this weekend has thrown a curveball into things, and it is why football is never simple. A brace – including a proper striker’s goal – has shown that Nkunku can be what Milan need. However, it is perhaps a little too late.

He is not on the market just yet, but it would be a lie to say that he is unsellable. In fact, he may still be heading towards an exit, it seems.

Nkunku still being discussed

Despite his brace, reports still suggest that he is in the shop window, and interest from Turkey is very much present. In fact, Fabrizio Romano has not commented on the situation, and the situation is as open as it ever was, as MilanNews relays.

“Christopher Nkunku has made a breakthrough, opening his Serie A account after scoring in the Coppa Italia. This remains a transfer market issue to monitor in the coming days and weeks. Clearly, the brace against Verona has changed sentiment on Nkunku.

“One match won’t change the assessments of all parties involved, but one match can certainly spark a spark, it can change the timing of certain discussions. And that’s why I can confirm that there’s some movement around Nkunku.

“Fenerbahce is interested, and they’ve been in contact with Milan in recent days to understand the player’s situation.

“But from here to starting to get closer to closing the deal, to reaching an agreement with the player, that’s not a secondary issue. Pay attention to the player part, that’s the real crux of the Nkunku issue; we’ll also need to understand what the boy wants to do.

“From here to saying “Nkunku to Fenerbahce” is still a long way off. Nkunku has responded on the pitch with two goals that helped Milan win an important match.

“I can confirm that Fenerbahce remains interested. We’ll need to understand what the player wants to do in the next few days, especially based on how the next matches unfold, because in the meantime, Nkunku scores and takes over on the pitch.”
