AC Milan have agreed a deal with Young Boys for the signing of Zachary Athekame, multiple sources have confirmed.

Milan have been in negotiations with the Swiss side over the signing of the defender for a few days now, and it was always believed that the finish line was never too far away after an initial acceleration.

Sure enough, the 13 minutes that Athekame played on Sunday in Bern against Sion – a game which ended 0-0 – on matchday four of the Swiss league will indeed be his last for Young Boys.

Athekame to Milan: Here we go!

Fabrizio Romano reports: “Zachary Athekame to AC Milan, here we go! Deal agreed for €10m total package plus 10% sell-on clause to Young Boys. The right back will soon travel to Milano for medical and contract signing.”

His colleague Matteo Moretto adds: “It’s done for Zachary Athekame to Milan. The right-back is expected in Italy in the coming hours to undergo medical examinations. Deal worth €10m + % on future sale.”

A day after the arrival of Koni De Winter, which has yet to be made official following yesterday’s medical, MilanNews can confirm that negotiations for Athekame were also unblocked this morning.

The final issues between Milan and Young Boys regarding the 20-year-old Swiss right-back have been resolved. The player will join the Rossoneri for €10m plus a percentage of any future resale value.
