Romano: Mateta informs Crystal Palace of desire to join Milan regardless of timing

This evening, AC Milan have been given a huge boost in their chances of signing Jean-Philippe Mateta, with him requesting the move. 

The Mateta saga has evolved quickly. As of this morning, Milan had a chance to sign the Frenchman, with Massimiliano Allegri pushing for the striker. In the hours that have followed, things have only gotten more likely.

Whilst a deal still needs to be finalised, a rich proposal is ready for Crystal Palace, but whether he will sign now or in the summer must be worked out. His agent is in Italy tonight to finalise a deal, but there have been suggestions that a summer move could also be possible.

Mateta makes Milan request

Whenever it is that the Rossoneri are ready, Mateta will be waiting, and he has informed the South London club of his position tonight, as Fabrizio Romano reports on X in the past few minutes.

“Jean Philippe Mateta has informed the Crystal Palace board about his decision to join AC Milan. He wants AC Milan now, immediately, even if the initial agreement was for June 2026. €3.5m salary net per season agreed with Milan. Palace and AC Milan, on it.”

Matteo Moretto also has tweeted similar information on his own X account.

“Jean-Philippe Mateta to Milan immediately, only the very last green light of the Palace is missing.”

It seems like only a matter of time, now.
