It seems that AC Milan may be slightly late to try sign Victor Boniface, as his situation has changed at Bayer Leverkusen.
The Nigerian striker has enjoyed a fine few years in Germany, however, his situation recently has been slightly difficult to unpack. This season, he has only managed to score just more than half of the tally from the previous Bundesliga season, whilst contributing seven less assists.
As Fabrizio Romano states, this is because he only regained importance around March, as MilanNews relays. The striker was out of favour, but Erik ten Hag’s appointment changed things a little, granting him a bit of stability, which had previously been lacking.
Late but not impossible
In fact, the Nigerian was available in the January mercato, and a move to Al Nassr seemed quite probable, until the club signed Jhon Duran. So, he stayed in Germany, attempting to find a place in Xabi Alonso’s squad.

With the new coach in place, there is an idea to play a front two and Boniface is being seen as a good option for this role. So, his price tag has increased, as you would expect. It was reported last night that a figure of €40-45 million will be needed, so Milan could afford him with around €50m allocated to the position.
