Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that AC Milan are big admirers of Jean-Philippe Mateta, amid rumours of a bid rejected by Crystal Palace.
Milan have already signed a striker this winter in Niclas Füllkrug, but it could well be the case that the management are ready and waiting to seize any opportunities that arise.
In fact, Footmercato reported in the past 24 hours that Crystal Palace have rejected an official offer from Milan for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who reportedly had agreed personal terms with the Rossoneri.
Juventus are also believed to be in the market for the Frenchman, though they have been able to agree a contract with him as per widespread reports.
‘Milan really like Mateta’
Fabrizio Romano, in his latest YouTube video, discussed Milan’s continued interest in Mateta, which could result in a concrete move sooner rather than later.

“Mateta is a player Milan has liked, starting last summer and continuing through October and November: that interest hasn’t changed,” he said.
“Milan really like Mateta, and I believe that if the opportunity presents itself in the future, they’ll take a chance. Maybe it won’t come in January, or maybe different scenarios will unfold. I think Milan still like the boy’s characteristics.”
Back on December 28, the same journalist confirmed that Mateta is on Milan’s list more for the summer. Given the uncertainty at Palace though, everything could well be up in the air.
